Pastor Amanda Hodges

Greetings! I am blessed to have served as the lay supply pastor for Melrose UMC since June 2023. I am a fourth-year, hybrid MDiv Duke Divinity School student. I enjoy providing a welcoming environment for new believers to encounter and engage with Christ. Furthering discipleship, for both long-term and new believers, is also one of my passions.
At Melrose UMC, we practice discipleship through community fellowship, in-depth Bible study opportunities, and service. Our faith actively engages in and serves our local community and beyond. We strive to focus on the missions and areas that God guides us to through the presence of the Holy Spirit.
I currently serve Melrose UMC on a part-time basis. I have continued with my first career of 21 years, as a professional entomologist and faculty member at the University of Florida. I received a PhD in Entomology from the University of Georgia in 2002, and a B.S. in Biology from the University of Georgia in 1997.
My husband, Greg, is also a professional entomologist. We married during our graduate programs at the University of Georgia. We enjoy traveling, swimming, hiking, nature, and our time in the scripture together.

Hello everyone!
I am happy to be the treasurer for Melrose United Methodist Church. It has been my pleasure to be a part of this church. When I’m not spending time at the church, I spend all of my free time with my family. I have a lovely little girl who is two and a wild little boy who is five. They are my pure joy.

My family and I joined Melrose UMC in 2024 and have been welcomed with open arms. Since then, we've participated in worship, fellowship meals, Family Fun Nights, Bible studies, and youth group. More importantly, we have continued to develop our relationship with Christ and other believers. I am pleased to have been invited to share my creativity with our congregation and community.
